Almond Board of California is seeking an outgoing "people-person" to engage with California almond growers and processors in outreach and compliance activities related to almond quality, food safety and reporting. The person will interact with huller/shellers, and handlers (processors) to assist them in the understanding of, and compliance with Almond Board Programs and initiatives including the Pasteurization Program, almond quality (inedible) program, Pre-Export Checks Program for aflatoxin (PEC), and general Food Safety requirements - particularly in regards to FSMA. This position involves on-site inspection activities, industry visits, and training to ensure an understanding and implementation of food safety and quality programs.
Requires a high degree of organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and self-motivation. Candidates should have an understanding of food production with a basic knowledge of QA and food safety principals. The ideal candidate has 1-5 years experience, with a background in food production or agriculture, with familiarity of food safety programs such as GAP's, GMP's, HACCP, and FSMA. Experience in assessing or auditing food production programs for quality and safety purposes is a plus, as is nut or other crop experience.
