The analyst, scientific and regulatory affairs is responsible for performing a wide range of regulatory affairs assignments in support of the consumer packaged goods industry and GMA’s strategic priorities. Reporting to the senior director, regulatory affairs, this role will research and analyze regulatory activities and events impacting the intersection of advancing the CPG industry’s agenda and meeting expectations of the American consumer.
Key Areas of Responsibility:
Work collaboratively to keep informed of the regulatory landscape.
Contribute to member communications related to priorities, issues and opportunities for CPG within regulatory affairs.
Keep department current on assigned regulatory policy issues.
Liaise with members, U.S. regulatory contacts, and other external stakeholders.
Support key regulatory meetings and industry events.
Provide analytical and program support on a variety of issues, including product safety, transparency and innovation.
Partner with internal divisions to develop communications, coordinate industry events, and other activities as assigned.
Provide general expertise, assistance and representation on technical, regulatory, and scientific issues related to food, beverage, and personal care products.
Coordinate meetings with GMA member companies and stakeholders.
Analyze proposed regulations, guidance and other emerging issues as needed.
Support the collection of information for developing stakeholder comments, talking points and slide decks.
Maintain electronic tracking systems and databases.
Experience & Education:
A minimum of a BA/BS degree is required. An advanced degree such as an MS is a plus.
1-3 years of related employment in the food, beverage, or personal care products required.
1-3 years with regulatory issues and policy required.
Proficient interpersonal and written communication skills.
Excellent analytical skills.
Passion for learning issues and developing regulatory expertise.
Ability to communicate technical issues in concise messages.
Proficient Office 365 Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills.
Excellent customer service skills and email etiquette.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work.
Flexibility in learning new software and/or computer/technical applications.
A self-starter with the ability to work independently.
Ability to work on cross-functional teams.
