National Taiwan University was founded in 1928 with initially only two academic divisions: the Literature and Politics division and the Science and Agriculture division, with about 60 students enrolled each semester. Since its foundation, NTU has grown exponentially and is currently the home to 11 colleges, 54 departments, 108 graduate institutes, over 50 national and university-level research centers, and over 32,000 students. Of these 11 colleges, the College of Public Health was established in 1993.
The College of Public Health at NTU is the first institution in Asia to be accredited by the Council on Education of Public Health (CEPH) in the U.S. Not only is NTU CPH accredited by CEPH, it is also a member of the Association of Schools and Programs of Public Health (ASPPH) in the U.S. In addition, the College of Public Health is home to the undergraduate Department of Public Health and 5 distinct graduate institutes: Institute of Epidemiology & Preventive Medicine, Institute of Health Policy & Management, Institute of Health Behaviors & Community Sciences, Institute of Environmental & Occupational Health Sciences, and Institute of Food Safety & Health.
