The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
The person hired for this position will be responsible for global regulatory compliance, hazard communication and life cycle management activities for the 3M Health Care Business Group.
As a Regulatory Affairs Specialist - Product Steward, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by ensuring global products by:
- Creating and managing chemical data documents for new and existing products
- Coordinating compliance activities and documentation related to global Environmental Health and Safety regulations for new and existing products (Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS), Registration Evaluation Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), Conflict Minerals, etc.)
- Providing support on transportation classification and chemical inventory assessments
- Working with Corporate Toxicology on product biocompatibility data needs and test plans
- Interfacing with cross-functional product teams
- Managing new and existing product information in 3M’s Chemical Data Management System (CDMS) database
- Maintaining life cycle management assessment data
- Interacting with Regulatory Authorities and Notified Bodies
- Determining product country of origin
- Compiling tracking metrics

Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution
- Three (3) years of experience creating and managing chemical data documents on a Chemical Data Management System (CDMS) database for new and existing products in a private, public, government or military environment
- Three (3) years of experience coordinating compliance activities and documentation related to global Environmental Health and Safety regulations for new and existing products (Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS), Registration Evaluation Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), Conflict Minerals)
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role:
- Master’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Engineering, Biological Sciences or related discipline from an accredited institution
- Five (5) years of experience creating and managing chemical data documents on a Chemical Data Management System (CDMS) database for new and existing products in a private, public, government or military environment
- Five (5) years of experience coordinating compliance activities and documentation related to global Environmental Health and Safety regulations for new and existing products (Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS), Registration Evaluation Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH), Conflict Minerals, etc.).
- Two (2) years of experience working in a regulated health care environment (private, public, government or military)
- Direct experience with creating regulatory body submissions/registrations for compliance to Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS), Registration Evaluation Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH) and California’s Proposition 65
